Special Counsel, Office of Mergers and Acquisitions at U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
Valian Afshar is a Special Counsel in the Division of Corporation Finance’s Office of Mergers and Acquisitions at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Before joining the SEC, Valian was in private practice at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and clerked for Vice Chancellors Donald F. Parsons, Jr. and Tamika R. Montgomery-Reeves of the Delaware Court of Chancery. In addition, he previously worked as a certified public accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Valian received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.S. in accounting, finance, and economics from the University of Delaware.
